The Area

Surrounded by National Forest, the Flathead Reservation, the Mission Mountain Wilderness Complex, and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, Grey Wolf Ranch is a perfect destination for both outdoor recreation and relaxation. We are located 12 miles from Seeley Lake, 56 miles from Missoula and 125 miles from Glacier National Park. Access to the Blackfoot River, made famous by Norman Maclean in A River Runs Through It, is only 22 miles away. We are also centrally located within the Clearwater chain of lakes which includes Clearwater, Rainy, Alva, Inez, Seeley, Placid, Big Sky, and Salmon Lake.

The ranch is an ideal locale for watching our native wildlife – deer, elk, sandhill cranes, coyotes, bears, mountain lions as well as the occasional moose pass through our meadow while hummingbirds, song birds, hawks and eagles soar overhead. You can find ducks, geese, and even swans floating leisurely on our fishing pond.

Fishing Pond

Our small fishing pond is perfect for either teaching the kids or just leisurely throwing out a line while relaxing under the shade of the large willow tree overlooking the water. It is also a perfect spot to pack a picnic for a peaceful afternoon under the summer sun.

Horseshoes & Fire Pit

Nothing brings people together quite like yard games and a warm bonfire! We have 2 sets or horseshoe pits for our guests’ use with a fire pit a short distance away. Provided there are no burn restrictions in place, we are happy to build a fire and provide firewood for your use.

ATV & Mountain Biking

While we do not allow off-roading on the ranch, both the front and back entrances to the ranch connect with a large network of backroads and local points of interest perfect for exploring by ATV or mountain bike. Shooting

Shooting enthusiasts should check out our private shooting range, which offers options for pistols, rifles, and trap. Our trap range boasts an electric trap thrower with a 250-clay capacity and wobbler. The secluded, low-pressure atmosphere makes it a perfect, no-pressure location for learners and experienced shooters alike. The site is also home to “The Shootin’ Shack”, a rustic log building built from wood logged and milled on the ranch. In cooler weather, there is also a firepit for warming up. Upon request, we are also able to arrange for meal service at the Shootin’ Shack.

Snowmobiling

Grey Wolf is ideally situated for snowmobiling. You can ride from your front porch and connect with 365 miles of groomed snowmobile trails maintained by the Seeley Lake Driftriders Snowmobile Club and the town of Seeley Lake is only 11 miles away via trails. Our heated shop is available should you need to perform repairs and fuel is available site.

Cross-country Skiing & Snowshoeing

Cross-country skis and snowshoes are a perfect way to get out and explore the ranch during the winter months. We maintain a small network of groomed trails which will take you through forest and meadow while offering spectacular views of the surrounding snow-covered mountains.

Seeley Lake

The town of Seeley Lake is about 12 miles from Grey Wolf Ranch. A popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts as well as a favorite stopover on the way to Glacier National Park, this mountain community offers a variety of dining and shopping opportunities. During the summer, you can find food, fresh produce, and crafts at the Seeley Lake Sunday Market. The community celebrates Independence Day every year with a parade, town-wide activities, and a firework show over Seeley Lake. Summer also sees music lovers flock to the town for the annual Bob Marshall Music Festival.
